Defensive Rifle 2

DR-2 is the natural progression from DR-1 or a good starting place for someone who is familiar with their weapons & manipulations.  We briefly cover basic malfunctions & pistol transitions in this class, so you should already be familiar with these basic manipulations & marksmanship fundamentals.  DR-2 is best taken in conjunction with DR-1 as the classes are intended to build on each other & it will be assumed you are familiar with the skills covered in DR-1 when you register for DR-2.  Movement & positions become more dynamic in DR-2 & students are held to a higher standard of accuracy.  The majority of the drills will be run at greater distances when compared to DR-1.  DR-2 will emphasize the application of your skills & your ability to balance speed & precision.

Please come to class with tested & functioning weapons if at all possible.  Your rifle should be zeroed prior to the course.  We will confirm weapon zeros & the sooner this process is taken care of the sooner we can move on to other topics.  Your weapon should reliably function with your training ammo & magazines.  We will induce plenty of malfunctions for you during class.  Bring gear that works.  Likewise, wearing your gear & moving around with your weapon will help you figure out if there are going to be gear conflicts before class starts.  This will save you time & frustration on the range.  The recommended ammo quantity is a reasonable maximum expectation.  If you tend to shoot more or jump in on drills if space allows you may need more.  If you’re judicious with your shooting you can get by with less but you will not get the maximum benefit of the class.

You are responsible for informing the instructors of any condition that might interfere with your ability to perform some of the class drills.  We will do whatever we can to accommodate as wide a range of students as possible but the more notice we have the better prepared we can be.  You are also responsible for brining any medical devices or medications that you might need during class.

We shoot rain, snow or shine so come prepared.  The weather in Colorado can be very unpredictable- overpack to be on the safe side.  There are no refunds for lack of student preparation.

This is a physically demanding class with a high round count.  You do not have to be an elite athlete to be competitive but you should have a decent fitness base to get the most from your training day.  The class includes team movement & dynamic positional shooting.  We will work with any physical limitations as best we can.  Please contact us to discuss specific issues before registering.
