Mike is a firearms instructor for Defensive Response Training, Inc (DRT).  DRT was formed to address the need for quality, reality based training flexible enough for use by civilians, law enforcement and military personnel.

Mike began shooting & hunting with his dad at a young age.  He started off with the Daisy Red Rider BB gun, & moved up from there.  He received his first formal firearms training while in the US Navy.  After leaving the military Mike earned his NRA Instructor certifications in Pistol, Personal Protection & Rifle.  He started his tactical firearms training with Advanced Handgun from Paladin Protective Services.  As a student of Options for Personal Security under Andy Stanford, Mike completed the OPS Tactical Carbine, Tactical Dynamics & Surgical Speed Shooting courses.  He became an OPS assistant instructor in 2008 & earned his full instructor status in 2009.  He has also trained with Paul Howe's Combat Shooting & Tactics, "SouthNarc of ShivWorks, Magpul Dynamics, Tactical Response & Todd Green of Pistol-training.com where he earned an advanced rating on the FAST Drill with a time of 5.80 seconds.
